PROJECT 3B - HIDEOUT
Students are required to design a space for you by attaching it to the walls/surfaces of an imagined ‘city’ on an empty abandoned lot in between two buildings. The space is to fit the specific needs of the user.
The final project is unique because is the cumulation of all the skills learned not only from this Design Studio module but also the Design Communication module as well. This integrated project puts our design and communication skills to the test.
In this project, we were first required to select a client from a predetermined list, study and understand the client's profile, needs, quirks and idiosyncracies, personality, the whole lot. Then, we are to design for them a hideout with a maximum volume of 315 cubic metres. This hideout, or space, is to be sandwiched between two buildings (the gap being 5 metres) and suspended 3 metres above the ground. The hideout is also to be usable, and conducive for the client to dream, retreat or to perform his/her daily activities.
I chose Steve Jobs as my client, and designed the hideout called DiSCONNECT.
