PROJECT 1 - DEFINING & DOCUMENTING A PROJECT

1. To understand the application of project management in a real project environment.

2. To appreciate the need for Project management in the construction industry,

3. To understand the basic stages of project management in the construction industry.

4. To understand the basic roles of different consultants in the construction industry.

5. To understand the use of "success criteria' in evaluating a project.

In a group of 5, we were given a site in the campus of Taylor's University, and told that we are to simulate undertaking a project and thus have to "act" as a group of consultants to design and build an activity centre. This simulation then resulted in a the creation of a group presentation as well as a report. During this time, we had to have mock simulated meetings and then to document the minutes of the meetings as well.

PROJECT 2 - DOCUMENTATION OF A MEDIUM SIZED PROJECT

In conjunction with our ADP design, we now have to simulate, individually, being project managers of our own ADP project. Thus, I produced a report that is effectively a proposal about the development and construction of this hypothetical project. In this report, various aspects are discussed, from Work Breakdown Structures to Gantt Chart, Risk Management to Maintenance strategy, and many others.
