From the 3rd of January 2017 to the 10th of March 2017. I had an internship with Eleena Jamil Architect. This is a very small firm, but has distinguished itself throughout the years with innovative projects like the Sepang House, Vermani House, Desa Markota School and the Bamboo Playhouse, all of which has been featured on architecture publications. During this short 10 weeks, I participated in as many projects as I could.

The report shown above has ALL images REDACTED. This is due to company policy.

I am grateful for all that I have learned during my short stint as an intern in this company. I have learned the specific and at times, weird requirements that each authority needs. I have learned how to detail, and specific formats for drawings. I have learned how to fold drawings, present to clients, and visited contractors. Even my software skills have improved, with the copious amounts of time I spent on AutoCAD, SketchUp and Revit.

I have also experienced for the first time the working lifestyle of an architect, and how his/her life revolves around meeting deadlines, clients, budgets, authorities and contractors while still desperately holding on to the original vision. It is a life of compromise.

With 10 weeks of working with Eleena Jamil Architect, the biggest takeaway is the fact that I lack an enormous amount of information about the industry. There is so much to learn about contracts, law, requirements, protocols and procedures notwithstanding the design aspect of architecture. While I only have 2 more semesters to complete before I graduate, the fact remains that there is an infinitely long road ahead of me.
