PROJECT 2B - AXONOMETRIC DRAWINGS
In the production of the work for the Orthographic Projections assessment, you would have, by now, a fairly in-depth understanding of the architectural detail and spatial value of the Farnsworth House. In the next exercise, you will learn how to execute an axonometric projection by generating partial of an external and a sectional (internal) axonometric of the house.
This follow-up assignment to Project 2A introduces us to a new method of expressing and communicating a building design. While an orthographic drawing is the most precise, and downright required for any building to be constructed, it is a terrible method to communicate a design intuitively.
Axonometric drawings, introduced in this project, allows us to show the building in an intuitive, easy to understand way without sacrificing precision and accuracy. Two axonometric drawings are drawn here - an exterior axonometric, and an exploded axonometric, the latter giving us the ability to see the interior of the building.
The drawings are done preliminarily on butter paper, which are then composed and transferred onto an A1 tracing paper and inked with technical pens.
