PROJECT 2A - ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWINGS
You are to utilize the given images of a simple building to be drawn up. By using the skills demonstrated and explained in the workshops, draw up the following required orthographic drawings.
A sharp deviation from the freeform nature of Project 1A and 1B, Project 2A introduces us to orthographic drawings. Gone are the freedoms and freehand sketches, in are the clean, sharp and precise lines of a proper technical drawing. Through this assignment, I now have an insight to draughting, have learned to master the tools (scale ruler, T-square, technical pens, drafting table), the methods, lineweights and conventions needed to produce a quality orthographic drawing.
The building drawn is the Edith Farnsworth house, designed by Mies van der Rohwe.
The 7 orthographic drawings - plan, south elevation, west elevation, north elevation, east elevation, section 1 and section 2) and the site plan were done first on butter paper, then composed and transferred unto tracing paper and drawn there with technical pens.
