The purpose of this exercise is to have a deeper understanding of the city in which we inhabit but do not necessarily seek to understand, Kuala Lumpur, and her greater surroundings but that of an objective standpoint in comparison to personal subjectivity. In this exercise of objectivity and subjectivity, you will select an artiste/philosopher/”idol” of choice whose methodology you prescribe to or can identify with, and observe a selected area in or around the city of your choice in the eyes of him/her.

In continuity with the previous assignment, project 2 deals with the real world. Now that we have somewhat of an understanding of what Italo Calvino is attempting to rather poorly say, we can now start to draw parallels between Kuala Lumpur and Invisible Cities. In this assignment, we, in the same group, visited Kuala Lumpur to photographs scenes that we can then say are able to invoke feelings or responses from the book.

We went to Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, the textile capital of Kuala Lumpur and a place of extreme capitalistic natures. Granted our chapter dealt with memories and desires, we are able to quickly identify scenes that remain eerily similar to those described in Invisible Cities.
